ELECTRO UTERINE MONITOR FOR DETERMINING THE ONSET OF LABOR

Short Description

The Electro Uterine Monitor software provides accurate data and rapid analysis of the uterine state. The system is a diagnostic monitor that can accurately determine the start of labor, based on electromyography technology.

EUM Electrode Positioning Configuration

Main Features

  • Multi-channel data logger allowing simultaneous acquisition from different devices, using different technology:
    • USB: A real-time application receiving data from an Analog-to-Digital device connected via USB, supporting different levels of sampling frequencies.
    • Serial Port RS232: The software manages 3D positioning sensor data coming from a serial input.
    • User interface: inputs and displays patient information, system configuration and settings.

  • Different layouts of offline replay for transparent data analysis.

Design Considerations

  • Development Environment: The choice of C++ Visual Studio ensured good performance in acquisition, storage, and display.

  • Object Oriented: OOP should allow for more flexibility, easing program modifications in the future.

  • Memory management: Advanced buffer design and memory management are required to provide "real-time data acquisition" and "signal graphic display" software a significant margin in order to prevent any loss of data under optimized system resources.

BIO-FEEDBACK

Short Description

This program uses audio feedback to react to the grip force that is being applied to two sensors. The system is used to develop right grip and left grip coordination for patients who suffer from fine motor skill deficiency in their hands.

USER INTERFACE

Design Considerations

Noise from grip sensor input: The key to success is to filter grip sensor noise from the signal knowing that different types of human grips produce different types of signals. This is achieved by adjusting the sampling method and the dynamic range of the sensor to match the characteristics of the user's grip.

The design was executed for AnalogTone.
